Respondus and Study Mate LTAD 3285 CRN 2611 (10/9/13 1:00PM – 3:00PM)

respondusBring your quizzes and test banks. Get ready to learn how to quickly and easily develop, edit, and publish quizzes, self-tests, flashcards, crossword puzzles, and many other interactive assessment tools to your course. Note: This course is optional for the Digital Professor Certification.

SoftChalk Lesson Builder LTAD 3270 CRN 2382 (10/14/13 – 11/11/13)

SoftChalk CreateThis hands-on course will support faculty in identifying, creating, and integrating discipline-specific reusable learning objects. Faculty will learn how to use SoftChalk Lesson Builder to create original interactive course content. Faculty will also learn how to access and integrate RLOs from various digital repositories. Note: This course is optional for the Digital Professor Certification.

This is a hybrid course that requires face-to-face meetings in addition to online coursework. Class meetings: 10/24, 10/31, 11/7 at 1-3 pm. West Campus, Bldg 6, Room 326A. (10 PD Hours)

Communication Tools in Online Courses LTAD3186 CRN 2389 (10/16/13 2:00-4:00PM)

This course is designed to help faculty utilize communication tools in the le

arning management system. This course is an online synchronous, interactive webinar. Join the webinar on 10/16/2013 at 2-4 pm. (2 Credit Hours)

Teaching and Learning with Social Media: Part 2 LTAD3383 CRN 2634 (10/18/13 – 11/1/13)

In this course, faculty will focus on using various social media tools that can be utilized to enhance the communication and engagement of students. This course will include an in-depth overview of Twitter, Facebook, Goggle+ and other emerging social media platforms. Note: This course is optional for the Digital Professor Certification and is part two of a two-part series on social media.

This hybrid course requires two meetings (online) in addition to online coursework. Webinar meeting dates: 10/22 and 10/29 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. (6 PD Hours)

 

Blackboard Essentials LTAD3283 CRN 2859 (10/21/13 – 11/18/13)

Blackboard_BoardIn this project-based course, participants will learn how to prepare their courses for delivery using the blackboard learning management system (LMS). Successful completion of this course is demonstrated by completing a learning module containing certain required elements to demonstrate your ability to use the tools.

New Instructional Designers

Did you know we hired two new instructional designers recently? Welcome both new instructional designers to Valencia’s Learning Technology Services team.

Amy Eger was one of the original instructional designers at Valencia and has returned to now cover both the Lake Nona and Winter Park Campuses.
